Time has really gotten away from us and we haven't posted any new updates since right before the macro election. So much has happened since then. Remember, just because it may not be posted here doesn't mean life isn't continuing in the Kingdom. The best bet for news is the local newspaper, out social media accounts, and the Royal Government Service Center in the Zentralplatz.
Thanksgiving and Christmas has both passed us by in this time. Each holiday brought wonderful times in the Kingdom with families and friends gathering for good food and good celebrations.
December 21st, 2024 was the day we distributed the winter coats we collected during our Warmth of a Nation annual coat drive. We are proud we were able to help many families and many children that were in need of winter coats. This program is not just for the Kingdom as most of our recipients are actually from the macro.
We had a good turnout for lighting of the National Christmas Tree. The annual event is great fun. Ice skating, hot chocolate, fire pits, and more always make this event a must attend for several families. The traditional Christmas music also helps to set the mood and rush in the Christmas season.
As fast as the Christmas season came and went, the new year was here too. So far 2025 has been good in the Kingdom but already has brought some weather challenges. On January 9th, 2025 mother nature hit the Kingdom with our first winter storm. It snowed for several hours in a row. On Friday the 10th, much of the same. It snowed all day but this this time it was off and on and not a continual snow as the day before. When it was all done, we measure a consistent 5 inches of snow as measured from several sites across the Kingdom. Our temperatures have stayed on the cool side and some snow still sits in a few spots around the Kingdom.
Now we must prepare for the coldest winter air to hit the Kingdom in possibly a decade. A bitter front of Siberian Air is rushing towards us and the weather will change a lot over the next 5 or so days.
A strong cold front brings very cold weather beginning Saturday into early next week. Single-digit to below zero wind chills expected Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mornings. Chances for flurries on Saturday Night with slightly higher odds for snow Mon-Tues.
In other news, the Royal Army is now ready to present to the Command Staff and the King a restructuring of the rank system of the Royal Army. They say it will improve the soldiers moral and the career paths of soldiers. An in-depth report will be presented at the King's Council Meeting for January.
Speaking of the King's Council Meeting, the first one of the year is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 15:00hrs. We will try to get the agenda posted here.
The Office of Foreign Affairs has stated it has noticed an increase in the amount of new micronations immerging. On December 10th, 2024 we signed a Treaty of Mutual Recognition with the Sovereign Kingdom of Stota. We are proud to have accomplished this with such a promising nation. To learn more about them, visit their national website at stota-gov.com We did post about this on our social media accounts but we wanted to mention it on here too. Some more of these new micronations have reached out to us but nothing has moved forward on formalizing any more agreements.
That wraps us the news bits for now.
