Let’s Celebrate
Who’s looking forward to this weekend? Well, don’t we all look forward to each weekend? There is nothing like free time, family time. But this weekend is a little different. For us Fristehen’s. It brings us a weekend of celebration, of community, of just good ol’ fun.
This Sunday, August 17th is one of our biggest days of celebration here in the Kingdom as we will celebrate our Establishment Day. Not only is August 17th our Establishment Day, but it’s the King’s birthday as well. So, a fine day of celebration is had by our Kingdom each year on this day.
The air will be alive with the sounds of local musicians, their melodies setting the audible backdrop as it mixes with the sounds of the crowds. We hope live, local music showcases the talent in our Kingdom and fosters a sense of community, drawing fellow citizens together. Just as the traditional Oompah music will soon do at the approaching Oktoberfest. But that is a story for the near future.
We not only have music each year, but for those looking to scratch their competitive itch, we have an assortment of outdoor games to enjoy. Some of these are cornhole, volleyball, whiffleball, putt-putt, tetherball, kickball and more. These are all available for competitive but friendly fun. Families are encouraged to play together and foster the importance of the family unit in our society.
With all the activates you are bound to work up an appetite. Culinary smells will fill the festival grounds. Several stalls each making their own specialty will all contribute to this wonderful journey for your nose. From crispy fried foods, pizza, gourmet popcorn, street tacos, wurst, and more, there will be plenty to chose from.
Don’t forget to catch the Royal Fristehen Army as they put on a military parade in celebration of our Establishment Day. If you were one of the lucky ones who got selected to have a seat at the King’s dinner table, then you will get to enjoy the parade while having dinner with the entire Royal Family. This is a tradition held each year as citizen names are drawn at random.
As the day draws to a close, don't forget to catch our small fireworks show in one final way to end the day of celebration for our Establishment Day and our King's Birthday.
Establishment Day and the King’s Birthday are more then just two events. They are a celebration of community, food, our traditions, and the joy of shared experience as a community. It’s about the laughter, the aromas, the music. It’s about leaving happy, having made memories with fellow citizens, friends, and neighbors. We can't wait to see you at the Zentralplatz and make those memories.
Peace and Understanding to you all.
