If you listen real good you can faintly hear the sounds of traditional Bavarian music trying to leak through some hidden wall somewhere near you. You can't find it, but you hear it. You know it's there and it has a purpose. This is because the local Oom-pah bands are practicing and fine tuning for the fast approaching Oktoberfest celebration.
Soon in the Kingdom the music will be free in the Fristehen air and it will fill our streets and alley ways. It will mix with the aroma of the savory roasted meats. The juicy roast chicken and the sizzling sausages each bring their own distinctive piece to this melody for the senses. The roar of the crowds, the laughter, the happy singing and outburst of "Prost" mix in and add to the joyous chaos. For a few days, all is happy, all is ok, all is justified by the soothing taste of your favorite cold beer. All is a celebration of friends, family and Kingdom, and it's all ok, because it's Fristehen Oktoberfest.
Oktoberfest in the Kingdom takes place during the last two weeks in September, and the last day of the festival is always the first Sunday in October. This is a time when you make new friends and enjoy a relaxing time with old ones. Beyond the music, food, and beer, you will find all kinds of activities to do. From cornhole, to tetherball, horseshoes and hay mazes, cow bomb field bingo, flag football, and more; there is something for everyone.
Oktoberfest has become an important part of the Fristehen culture. Oktoberfest is about history and tradition. This year we will have a tent where you can find information on the history of Oktoberfest while you are attending the events. I hope you take a few moments to visit the history tent and learn of the interesting history of Oktoberfest. This history includes the origins in Germany, how it has been celebrated in our macro, and the history of Oktoberfest here in the Kingdom of Fristehen.
We look forward to seeing you at our annual Fristehen Oktoberfest!
