Put on your lederhosen or dirndl, grab a stein and pretzel and find your local Oktoberfest Celebration because it's finally that time of the year here in the Kingdom. It’s a time for sausage, pretzels, lederhosen, dirndls, Bavarian flags, and most famously, beer. Cover the streets and alleyways in blue and white checkered flags and have large picnic tables everywhere so friends and family can enjoy the celebration time together. The steady thump of a tuba sets the pace for the Oom-pah band and the sound of traditional Bavarian music fills the neighborhoods. So hoist the steins or glass boots filled with beer in celebration and enjoy the company and atmosphere as this wonderful time has come to the Kingdom of Fristehen once again.
Oktoberfest is so much more though. It's also about history and tradition. You can find information on the history of Oktoberfest posted all over the Kingdom during the fest season. I hope you take a few moments and learn of the interesting and wonderful history of Oktoberfest, both in its origins in Germany, and here in the Kingdom of Fristehen.
This is a time when you make new friends and enjoy a relaxing time with old ones. Beyond the music and beer, you will find all kinds of activities to do with others. From cornhole, to tetherball, horseshoes and hay mazes, cow bomb field bingo, flag football, and more; there is something for everyone.
Oktoberfest in the Kingdom takes place during the last two weeks in September, and the last day of the festival is always the first Sunday in October. We hope you are able to get out and enjoy this wonderful, somewhat magical time in the Kingdom and across the world.
Also, keep a lookout for the Royal Family as they will be taking in the festival activities as well. See if you can spot the King drinking his favorite beer. If you can guess what it is, enter you answer into the competition box found at the main information kiosk in the Zentralplatz and you might be the winner of Dinner with the King. This dinner, which you will be a part of, will take place at the closing ceremony of Oktoberfest.
We hope to see you at Oktoberfest, Prost!
